bridging gap between subfloor and patio decking

The purpose of molding is to cover edges, camouflage expansion spaces, and bridge surfaces where wood ends and other types of flooring begin, like tile or Threshold: Threshold trim is used to bridge the gap between the floor and a sliding glass door while leaving an expansion gap in place, and can also be used to

A. Practically any solid, even surface e.g. courtyards, balconies, patios, porches, roof tops, hot tub surrounds, pool surrounds, garden paths, boat decks, garages, gazebos, sun rooms, basements A. Due to the gaps between the slats of wood and the specially designed mesh base, any water drains away quickly and freely.

If you spot a gap, use the wood shim solution to stop floor movement. Sometimes the gapping between the subfloor and joist is too narrow, too irregular or too widespread for shims to be effective. For a more permanent solution, however, you'll usually have to screw the subfloor to the wood flooring from below.

John Bridge Forum also offers this helpful deflection calculator. Reducing Adding another layer of plywood can reduce deflection and curvature of the sheathing between joists. Plywood and OSB are the two most common materials used for floor decking, and typically they are 5 8″ or 3 4″ thick.

LePage Subfloor Adhesive (Lepage PL 400) is an interior exterior, heavy duty, premium quality adhesive designed for structural projects that require strength rates of dissimilar materials and is particularly effective when bonding irregular surfaces or bridging gaps between surfaces which helps eliminate floor squeaks.

If you are lucky--or plan well--your tile floor will be exactly as high as your non-tile floor. In that case, butt the tile against the wood and call it a day. But in so many other cases, you will need a transition if only because the tile turns out to be higher than the adjoining flooring.

If there is a gap between a joist and the subflooring, drive a glue-coated shingle or shim between the joist and subfloor just tight enough to kill the squeak. If that doesn't work, drive a screw through the subfloor into the underside of the surface flooring. Be sure the screw is short enough not to pop through
